Year-End Moves to Build Business
The end of the year can feel like a sprint, but it’s also one of the best times to strengthen client relationships and make way for momentum in 2026. If you’re looking for a few high-impact, here are my favorites:
1. Have a year-end (or early-year) conversation with key clients.
This is my go-to recommendation because it does so much at once: it shows you’re proactive, it demonstrates that you’re thinking about their business, and it gives you real clarity on what’s ahead.
Use these conversations to recap what you accomplished together this year, ask what’s on their radar for 2026, and explore where you can support them next. If you can’t squeeze them in before the holidays, get them on the January calendar now. For more ideas on this initiative, click here.
2. Connect with your clients this season.
Whether it’s a handwritten card, a small gift, an email check-in, or a quick “thinking of you” note, it matters. The holidays are a great excuse to reconnect, and staying top of mind is one of the simplest, most effective BD tactics out there.
Don’t overthink it. Consistency > perfection.
3. Revisit your MBD plan before December 31.
Take 30 minutes to look at the goals you set back in January. What’s still within reach? Is there a lunch you meant to schedule? A client you’ve been meaning to follow up with? A cross-sell introduction you can make?
Ending the year on a high note - no matter how small - creates energy and confidence heading into 2026.
